Mabel Avis Wells, age 77 of Waleska, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local animal shelter in her name. She is survived by daughters, Vonnie (George) Abbey of Jonesboro and Gina (Gene) Smith of Waleska. Two grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
